STREAMGAGE HEIDI

Requirements:
– to know at any time of the year and in real time the water height of navigable rivers for kayaking and rafting.
– Low-cost, easy-to-install streamgage for monitoring minor waterways and reservoirs with real-time updates.

Idrometro Heidi

Solution:
The Heidi streamgage is specially designed for monitoring smaller streams, canals, flood expansion areas and anyway with bridge span or water surface distance of less than 10 meters. Its light weight and compactness make it easy and quick to install by adopting mounting brackets suitable for virtually any situation.
The use of “standard” components and the use of Open Source microcontrollers also make it possible to significantly lower material and assembly costs. The data transmitted by the station can be viewed in real time on the Internet on a dedicated dashboard and are directly managed by Openvironment.net. The data are downloadable in Excel format for later processing.

The use of a microcontroller with very low power consumption, particularly during deep sleep phases (inactivity between readings), allows, thanks to solar panel support, virtually unlimited autonomy while reducing hardware interventions to a minimum.

See the dashboard for the Heidi streamgage installed on the river Lima in the locality of Casabasciana (Cevoli bridge, Lucca, Italy).
